1. Introduction / 'Dreams and Fantasies', June 2008.

I started working with the Cubitt Art Group at Claremont Project, in June 2008. The first project was  entitled, 'Dreams and Fantasies', and was aimed at providing members with an insight into painting techniques.

As the courses have developed we increasingly arrange exhibitions of their projects. I felt an online presence would also be a fitting record of the art groups work, for members to have an account of their artistic adventures, and to provide a reference point that they might share with friends and family.

Early projects were not always documented so not everything is included since we started working together. Members have come and gone, but throughout this time, the results have always reflected the diversity and wonderful energy and imagination that the members bring to their art projects. They are a truly inspiring group to work with, bringing their individualities and fascinating histories to an atmosphere of sharing and mutual support that bubbles along to a soundtrack of frustrated groans and ever present laughter.

Hopefully 'The Art Group' blog will serve as a fitting celebration of their talents.

They will join me in thanking Daniel Baker at Cubitt Education for helping organise all of the projects and providing funding for them, and everyone at Claremont Project, for the fantastic atmosphere they welcome everyone with there.
